Good African CoffeeGood African is a coffee company that is directly exporting its coffee from farmers in Africa to markets across the globe (though primarily the UK right now). They source high quality Arabica coffees from over 14,000 Ugandan farmers, with over 2,000 producing organic coffee beans. They roast, package, and sell their own coffees, ensuring they gain all of the profits. Good African then shares 50% of their profits back with the farmers, through educational programs and trainings. They believe programs selected by the communities provide empowerment and economic development. They specifically support the creation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives and the provision of quality agronomy training and extension services for the farmers. So far, they have 16 Savings and Credit Cooperatives in place in Uganda.

The company believes that trade is the continent’s way to economic success, not aid. Over $500 billion has been given in the last 50 years to Africa, yet poverty and famine remain rampant. Good African believes aid erodes accountability and leads to a chronic dependency on donors. Trade as an economic driver will drive job growth, create wealth, and bring prosperity to more people.

Their coffee retails for roughly $11 in the U.K. You can buy coffee on their website by clicking here
